This past summer, the Canadian Land Border Duty Free Industry (FDFA) launched its first online contest asking the general public to submit their best captions about their travel characters/personalities. One winner was selected from the dutyfreecanada.com entries, and the other was chosen through a Facebook vote.

The winner of both $1000 prizes was Kristen Duever of London, Ontario, who spent the first half of her shopping spree Monday at Peace Bridge Duty Free.

Glenn Mills, general manager of Peace Bridge Duty Free Inc., said, “Our lucky winner was here for about 2 hours.  Ms. Duever and her husband bought alcohol, confectionary and jewellery, and didn’t stop smiling the entire time they were here.”

Kristen’s winning photo caption was selected in August during the Duty Free Shopping Spree Caption Contest.  Her picture was judged to be the most representative of the themes of cross-border travel and Duty Free shopping, with a taste of humour.
