Obama to visit Detroit Labour Day

Still thinking about what to do on the upcoming holiday weekend?  President Obama has announced he will be in Detroit.

While he said he does not think he will march in the Solidarity Parade, you might be able to catch him giving  a speech afterward at a location yet to be announced.  Detroit AFL-CIO President Saundra Williams said Obama’s visit could bring in an additional 100,000 people to the Michigan AFL-CIO Labour Day Parade — possibly doubling the annual crowd.

Along with the march, there are additional events happening in and around the Detroit area.  For example, the Detroit Jazz Festival will be going on and broadcast to worldwide audience via smartphone.

There is also the Arts, Beats and Eats Festival, a compilation of events including 250 music acts, 65 restaurants, and the 2011 Juried Art-Fair line-up of fine artists.

You can check out any of these and cap it off by seeing the Chicago White Sox play the Central Division leading Detroit Tigers.
