Here are some recommendations to make before you plan your next trip to the United States. While you might not be planning a wholly discounted journey (it is possible), you should try and take advantage of savings wherever you may find them. The last (but not least) thing you should do on your way to crossing the border is visiting your closest Duty Free Canada land border location. Remember, you can visit Duty Free on your way into the U.S. Take a look at our Tax Saving Checker to see what you can save the most on.
Here’s a good list of things to consider when you are using coupons and other deals to help make your trip more affordable.
Plan your trip as soon as you can
Make reservations as soon as possible. You will almost always have a better chance at finding your preferred date available if you book it early. Make sure you bring American change for tolls.
Study the fine print
Some offers are only valid at certain times of the year or contain restrictions on their use such as being used on holidays. Make sure you read your travel documents through and decide if they fit into your trip plans.
Do the math to see how good the deal is
Many places offer various discounts that might be less restrictive. Of course, you will find the best deals on liquor, fragrances, and gifts at your nearest Duty Free land border crossing! Take a look at our Savings Checker to see where you can save the most!
Do a little negotiating
If a coupon or discount on travel does not look like it will accomodate for the timing of your trip, ask the travel representative if the expiration dates can be extended. Some will extend the validity of the discount, especially if you are not travelling in season.
Sign up in areas you want to visit
Some attractions have limitations on the number of visitors that can attend at one time. Once again, book early to avoid disappointment.
