A quick guide to shorten your time at the border

Sometimes the most daunting task on a road trip can be crossing the border. Therefore, we want to make this process as easy as possible for you. We’ve come up with some quick tips before getting to the border that may help you save time and sanity.

Know what ID is necessary – before leaving on your trip don’t forget to double check which ID you and each member of your family will need at the border.

Be ready to address the border officer –When you’re patiently waiting for the next available border officer, roll down your front and back windows and be prepared to answer any questions he/she may have.

Be sure to have a note for children travelling without both parents – If you are bringing one of your child’s friends with you be sure to collect a note from his/her parents consenting that you will be responsible once you have crossed the border.

Know your allowance limits – Check the allowance limits on our website before making any purchases so that you know how much you can cross the border with.

Check/empty your trunk – Before leaving on your trips be sure to clean the back seat and trunk of your vehicle so that if they do ask to take a look they can do so quickly and with ease.

Shop Duty Free Canada before you cross – You might already know this one but a great way to kill time if the border crossing is busy is to hop into a Duty Free Canada store and find everything you need for your trip!
