The fantastic scenery isn’t the only reason Maritimers are flocking south of the border.

Ian Lee, an assistant professor at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business, said that the smaller market of the Maritimes means less retail competition.  In an interview with the CBC, Lee explained that the competition retailers face in the US is greater than the Canadian retail market.  Coupled with the strong Canadian dollar, that’s a great incentive for shoppers to head south.
