Take me out to the ballgame…

The boys of summer are back, and with the season well underway we are beginning to see which teams could be contending for the pennant in October. Last year’s champions, St. Louis Cardinals, have started strong but teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles have also taken the headlines in recent times.

Going to a baseball game is nostalgic, and whether you are a fan or not there is something there for everyone to enjoy. This summer, take advantage of your weekends and plan a road trip to a baseball stadium you have never visited before.

Below is our list of baseball diamonds you should try to visit before the end of September:

Fenway Park, Boston – This is one of the oldest stadiums in the major leagues and has been the home of the “Green Monster” and the Boston Red Sox for 100 years.

Yankee Stadium, New York – George Steinbrenner (owner of the New York Yankees) spared no expense when constructing a new $1.5 billion dollar home for his beloved Yankees.

Safeco Field, Seattle – Safeco Field and its adjoining parking garage feature extensive public art displays including a chandelier made of 1, 000 resin baseball bats that hangs above the home plate entrance.

Camden Yards, Baltimore – Camden Yards was a ground-breaking ballpark when it opened in 1992 for seamlessly integrating a comfortable, retro-feeling experience into an urban setting. Twenty years later the majority of ballparks around the league have followed a similar retro concept.

Wrigley Field, Chicago – This beautiful outdoor ballpark is notorious for its outfield walls which are covered by ivy, and the rooftop seats across the street from the diamond that offer a completely unique baseball experience.

Comerica Park, Detroit – When you find yourself at a Detroit Tigers game, be sure to keep your eyes on Center Field after every Tiger run is scored. A giant fountain is set off with bursts of water often referred to as “Liquid Fireworks”

Miller Park, Milwaukee – Miller  Park features North America’s only fan-shaped convertible roof, which can open and close in less than 10 minutes.

Rogers Centre, Toronto – Right in the heart of the downtown core, this is a beautiful venue for watching Canada’s team play.  On the warmer days, the stadium’s dome ceiling even retracts to reveal the sunshine and city sky-line.
