Richmond, Virgina to host 2015 UCI World Championship

USA Cycling was ecstatic today to hear that Richmond, Virginia was selected to host the 2015 UCI Road World Championships. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), competitive cycling’s international governing body, selected Richmond following a competitive bid process, with the country of Oman ultimately dropping out. It will be the first time the UCI Road World Championships will be held in the U.S. since 1986. Despite the fact that the 2015 UCI Road World Championships are four years away, extensive planning already has begun. Minor League sport has its charm

Minor league sport has historically been a source of intense, dedicated fans.  This might be due to the fact that payrolls in these leagues are far less than the “big leagues.”  Sometimes, they are even non-existent. Touring the Apostle Islands

Wisconsin’s Bayfield Peninsula and the nearby Apostle Islands were once part of the same land mass, but over time they were carved away by retreating glaciers.  Much of the land underneath the islands and on the peninsula consists of sandstone.  On the northeast shore, the coastal landfall has been eroded as well, resulting in the creation of sea caves. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a national park consisting of 21 islands, a sandspit and 12 miles of coastline, and is a 720-square-mile area in the midst of Lake Superior.
